01995 Ford Windstar Test Drive
A new type of minivan had arrived. The Windstar delivered the styling, space efficiency, cargo capacity, performance, ride, and handling that earned it tops in early comparisons. Built atop a modified Taurus platform, the Windstar was exceptionally car like in demeanor, benefiting from a low step-in height and generous leg room. Unlike its ChryslerCo competition, however, this minivan was only offered in one length, only as a front-driver, and only with a 3.8-liter V6. Dual airbags and ABS were standard; integral child seats were optional.
