In 1983, GMC launched its S-15 Jimmy, the first compact sport/utility from the Detroit truck maker. Although it grew more aesthetic over the years, the basic platform remained much the same. Clearly, it was time for a change. Carrying the same wheelbase dimensions asa its predecessor, the 1995 version arrived longer, lover, and wider than before to deliver greater interior space. A driver-side airbag and four-wheel ABS were standard in all 4×2 and 4×4 models, and there was a new optional keyless/illuminated entry system. Available leather seating for six made the Jimmy more pleasant than ever before, while the torquey 4.3-liter V-6 provided hill-climbing power.
