01995 Honda Odyssey Test Drive
Honda became the last major automaker to field a minivan with the front drive Odyssey, which was about the same length as the mercury Villager and Chrysler’s short wheelbase minivans. Odyssey departed from most other minivans in having four swing open side doors. Odyssey also had a one piece rear liftgate making it a 5-door van. It was built on a stretched version of the Accord’s front drive platform but had unique exterior styling and interior features.
The only engine in 1995 was a 140hp 2.2 liter 4-cylinder borrowed from the Accord. Despite the lack of a v-6 engine, it was well built, well equipped and reliable.
