01995 Nissan 200SX SE-R Test Drive
Nissan killed the hot-handling front-drive NX1600/2000 line in 1994, and silent tears were shed in its memory. For 1995, the company revived not the NX, but a darn good imitation in the form of the new 200SX. This car bore no resemblance to the underachiever to which the nameplate was previously attached. Instead, it shared its platform basics with the significantly re-engineered Sentra. Carrying dual airbags, the inexpensive sports coupe was offered in mild or wild flavors, letting you choose between the basic 1.6-liter/110-horsepower DOHC four or a hi-po 2.0-liter/140-horsepower DOHC version, the SE-R.
