It was a sure sign that automotive tastes were changing when Nissan’s 240SW crossed the line into baby-luxo-land. The company’s marketing gurus said there was a growing populace that was put off by the overly aggressive look of most sporty coupes, and then unveiled the adult-themed 1995 240SX as proof. Styling more along the lines of a Lexus SC300 than a Camaro Z28, this Nissan brought new levels of refinement to the $20,000-plus bracket. Although longer and wider than the car it replaced, the new SX retained the previous 2.4-liter/155-horsepower DOHC four and rear-drive layout. Dual airbags and lots of standard goodies made it a must-see.
