The all new for 1995 Nissan Sentra was eminently, if not exaggerated, a reasonable car. In a competitive and crowded market where it was imperative to stand out from the rest, did this compact sedan (and coupe as the 200sx) have its sights set high enough to succeed?

I remember thinking when this generation of the Sentra launched how much bigger it looked than the previous B13 model. I liked this generation, even though I thought the move from an independent rear suspension to a beam axle was a terrible idea. In retrospect, I came to understand why this was done: cost cutting, as Nissan wasn’t in the best financial shape at the time. To this day, the B13 generation remains my favorite of the Sentra line, followed by the B14. I’d still like to get my hands on a B13 that hasn’t had its rear suspension collapsed (a common issue with the B12 and B13, at least with the ones that were sold in Barbados).

I remember when this gen was introduced as well! I miss those days. My cousin had a 98 Sentra.

Another thing is…did anyone else see how better the MPG was back in these old Sentras compared to today’s Sentra?

    • Car Guy says:

Today’s Sentra is a notably larger car, though. Even the Versa is larger than this era Sentra.

Also, EPA modified their MPG ratings down since 1995.

I had a 1985 Sentra and it was prob one the worst cars I ever had, except for the Plymouth Horizon. Now I must have had a lemon because I knew a guy with a 92 model than ran to 289,000 mikes before any major issues popped up
