01995 Volvo 960 Test Drive
Although you could spot the 1995 Volvo 960 by its new front fenders, headlights, and color-coordinated bumpers, much of what’s new was hidden beneath the bodywork. The interior was treated to standard leather seats, burled walnut panels, smarter ergonomics, and (wow!) cupholders. Power for the rear-drive 960 sedan and wagon line came from a 2.9-liter DOHC inline-six, revised for greater torque. horsepower actually dropped from 201 to 181, but response was increased, thanks to the wider torque band. Revised geometry on the MacPherson-strut front suspension and a revamped multilink rear suspension were introduced to improve ride and handling.
