11996 Dodge Viper RT/10 Test Drive
The expressions “pedal to the metal” and “burning rubber” go hand in hand when describing the Dodge Viper.
Then again, fun was just about all this car had going for it. No matter how hard you tried, nothing about it was practical… from the very reason for its existence to the way it handled.
This ultra-sporty model – the kind you see only on sunny Sunday afternoons – had no other function except to play flagship model for a make with a long standing reputation for putting out boring cars. The Viper was anything but dull, the number of models at the time with this much power of attraction could be counted on one hand. Everywhere it went, heads turned. Happily, the pleasure of driving a Viper wasn’t limited to enjoying its spectacular looks – but owners still have to resign themselves to its limited scope. This car was absolutely unsuited to most of the tasks usually expected of an automobile.
My neighbor has a coupe… He’s also the most arrogant a-hole I’ve met to date. 😉 This engine config is one of the worst sounding IMO. V8 or V12, but the V10 sounds like crap IMO.
