Until 1986 Sleek lines, modern and practical instrument panels, and goodroad adherence where the exclusive domain of European cars on this continent. It just in just one decade, the Taurus changed all that. Ford Bank heavily on this series and came up a winner. The Taurus and its twin, the Sable, would change the automotive culture of North Americans. Its aerodynamic exterior was a total departure from anything else being built in Detroit at the time. Ten years later, that same shape looked conservative and familiar. And so once again Ford took a big chance in the sales stakes game with the 1996 Taurus, which generated every bit as much controversy as it’s 1986 forbear. Though similar in concept and packaging to its competing midsize sedans, it once again was send down a new and radical styling path.
