21996 Full-Size Dually Pickup Truck Comparison Test Drive
The full-size pickup truck enjoyed amazing popularity in the 1990s. In 1996 sales continued to climb. While car sales remained stagnant, more and more full-size pickup trucks were being sold. While the majority of trucks were sold as light duty, there has always remained the segment of the truck market that required them to tackle heavy loads. And while heavy duty trucks didn’t sell in the numbers the lesser models did, each of the major Detroit players offered one, and each one was offered in many configurations. In this test Motorweek compares the threesome of heavy hitting duallies, from the shortest of the bunch, a single cab iron block V-10 Dodge Ram, and the longest of the trio, Chevy’s long bed, four door, both represented to undermine Fords sales supremacy with it’s then aging Super Duty. Whether you’re a Chevy guy, a Ford man, or live by the ‘Mopar or no car’ motto, fill yourself up with the fuel of your choice, pull up your double wide and enjoy!
I LOVE THESE OLD 90’S TRUCKS, THERE THE BEST 😀
I’ve Got a 1988 GMC Sierra Dually with a 454 7.4l, th400 trans and 4.10 rear diff and it’s a beast even at 30 years old it’s a torque monster and can haul 10,000lbs up the road all day long and still has lots of passing power. Best heavy duty gas trucks ever.
