By 1995 as the MPV entered its seventh model year without any major styling or mechanical change, the Multi-Purpose Vehicle started to grow a little aged. Big changes arrived for 1996 as the MPV minivan gained a drive-side rear door, standard four-wheel ABS, roll-down rear windows, a new instrument panel with dual airbags, and updated styling. Base models were DX’s, with LX and ES models featured more comprehensive equipment. The ES got four captains chairs, whtl the DX and LX got a three-passenger second seat to raise passenger capacity to eight. All MPVs still had the 3.0-liter/155-horsepower SOHC V-6, and the standard rear drive could be replaced with all-wheel drive.
