11996 Mercury Sable Wagon Test Drive
With the 1996 Mercury Sable Wagon, it’s important to get beyond the appearance. Some critics likened the nose to that of a fish scavenging for food. However , the design continued Sable’s tradition of boldness. It was no secret that the Sable was the Ford Taurus with different details. In this iteration of the Sable, eclipses were everywhere, from the car’s profile to the taillamps, door handles, mirrors, and rear window. Inside the center control pod carried the same theme. With its sensational styling, exceptional details, and long list of features, the Sable had few peers in the mainstream family wagon class, except of course the Ford Taurus.
I’ve always liked them. Only recently I’ve heard people complain about the styling. AkA the Internet.
