11996 Toyota 4Runner Test Drive
A couple decades ago, most off road vehicles looked as if they were assembled in a pre-war factory and their presentation was rudimentary at best. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the quality of assembly of the 4Runner, its reliability, design and mechanical underpinnings were enough to make consumers flock to it. But the snag is that the competition began to offer a wide array of models whose quality, performance and presentation essentially matched the 4Runner. In fact many of those models were less expensive and offered better comfort and superior drivability. So it’s easy to see why Toyota’s all road vehicle had recorded only modest sales and why its popularity stagnated, while most other manufactures gleefully watched their sales charts.
Great! Which could be better off on off/on rorad driving, folks?
A 4runner (1996-present)
a land rover discovery/lr3-4
or a bmw x series?
