21996 Volkswagen Passat TDI Test Drive
If you didn’t worry much about performance, you could have safely chosen the turbo diesel four cylinder engine available on both the sedan and the wagon. For 95 the meager 75 horses were a serious handicap to passing other vehicles, but the fact the VW adopted internal injection for the1.9 liter gave it 15 additional horses that was greatly appreciated by fans of “the little engine that could”. This Passat still wasn’t a speeding bullet, but the driving style it forces user into is compensate for by very reasonable fuel economy. Ideal for those who travel a lot.
