41997 Buick Regal GS Test Drive
Just when you thought Buick was committed to unswerving conservatism, along came a car like the 1997 Regal GS. Yes, the Regal embodied the virtues-roominess, smooth ride quality, lots of features-that went with Buick’s marketing slogan: Premium American Motorcars. But it also went beyond, treading perilously close to Pontiac’s Excitement territory. Particularly, in the supercharged Regal GS, which matched Pontiac’s nifty Grand Prix GTP stride for stride, sprinting to 60mph in about 6.5-7.0 seconds. That was prtty brisk for a conservative looking mid size family sedan. Was the Regal GS out of step with its more sedate stablemates? Could it have been sportier than even the Riviera? Who cares? The 1997 Regal was an excellent blend of posh and performance. Perhaps it was out of sync with the rest of Buickdom. But who’s complaining?
not that bad..don’t forget to include road tests for the riviera and roadmaster models, too!
i have the roadmaster, and other Rivy’s
