While Corsica fans were saddened to discover that their beloved low buck sedan was gone forever, the replacement Malibu was sure to cheer them up considerably. This family sedan wore a classic Chevrolet name, but functionally and stylistically it was completely contemporary. It had an attractive spacious five passenger interior and came standard with air conditioning, ABS, automatic transmission, and a tilt steering wheel. The LS version added even more goodies to the roster. The two engine choices were the base level 2.4 liter 150 horsepower Twin Cam and the 3.1 liter 155 horse OHV v6. In look, feel and finish the Malibu was a solid and highly competitive entry in the sedan market.
