31997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS LT4 Test Drive
Securely positioned as the greatest performance car value in America, the Camaro returned to celebrate with a special 30th Anniversary Appearance Package available on Z28 models. Finished in white and set off with orange stripes and hood extractors, the Anniversary Package looked like a tamer version of the Brickyard 500 pace car. All Camaros benefited from a new interior for 1997, with more comfortable seats and a more readable instrument cluster. Daytime running lights were standard. The great V6 and LT1 V8 powertrains were joined in mid 1997 by a limited production 330 horsepower LT4 powered Z28 SS.
I remember when this car came out I wished that there were flush headlights, and then when they refreshed it I missed the recessed ones!
Interesting that MotorWeek highlights the new-for-1997 dashboard, yet consistently shows the 1993-1996 design even while touting the ’97’s features.
LOVE THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE 😀
