1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Test Drive
After 30 years, the Camaro began to show its age – although the Z28 remained one of the most desirable examples of the all-American pony-car genre. To Celebrate the 30-year anniversary, you could order Z28s with an orange-on-white “appearance package” that mimicked the 1969 Indianapolis 500 Pace car’s colors. The Camaro came as a coupe, , T-top coupe, or convertible, each in three trim levels: base, RS, and Z28. The RS was an “insurance special”, with the look of the Z28 but the V-6 under the hood. The Camaro appealed mainly to young singles – and, of course , older males who remember those great pony cars of the 60s.
