1997 Ford F150 Test Drive

Ford’s gradual makeover of the hugely popular F-Series pickup carried on with the arrival of the curvaceous F-250. It shared handsome new bodywork and a fresh dual-airbag interior with the early-release 1997 F-150. Powerplant choices started out with a 4.2-liter/210-horsepower V-6, and ended up with a pair of Triton SOHC V-8s. Regular and Super Cabs were available in rear-and four-wheel drive. The F-250 HD, F-350, and F-Super Duty carried on until 1998 with the previous generation’s boxy styling. These models were powered by a 5.8-liter or 7.5-liter pushrod V-8 or 7.3-liter turbodiesel. Along with rear-and four-wheel drive, the big F-Series trucks came in regular, Super, and Crew Cab styles.
