It was a whole new Q for 1997. For the first time since the brand’s introduction, the flagship Q45 received a total ground-up rework. Slightly smaller than its predecessor, the new car had a two-inch shorter wheelbase, coupled with a 204 pound drop in curb weight. These shrinking dimensions didn’t hurt interior space. Displacement dropped to 4.1 liters, and peak horsepower slide to 266 from 278, but performance remained fairly intact. However, the !’s legendary enthusiast edge had somewhat softened.
