21997 Jeep Wrangler TJ Test Drive
Those round headlights seen on the 1997 Wrangler only hinted at the voluminous changes that took place in this heir to the legendary Willy’s of WWII. In short, Chrysler made the Wrangler more comfortable for everyday on road use, but kept it as capable as ever off the pavement. A more robust ladder frame and new coil spring live axle suspension improved the Wrangler’s ground clearance and approach angle. Inside, dual airbags were fitted to an interior that boasted new seats and rear bench that’s 8 inches wider than before. Every body panel of the Wrangler, except the doors and tailgate were new and bits such as the hood hinges remained exposed to give the Jeep a purposeful look.
