11997 Lexus ES300 Test Drive
For the second time in its history, the font-drive ES sedan received a complete rework. Its new wedge-themed body was significantly more rigid and silent than its predecessor’s, and it rolled on a 2.0-inch-longer wheelbase to improve ride and interior roominess. New suspension geometry, steering changes, and an optional adaptive damping system smoothed the ride and tightened up the handling. Inside, the interior was more inviting than ever. The sole engine was an evolution of the 3.0-liter V-6 that powered the car previously, but now it picked up 12 horses, to hit a 200-horse crest and reach 60 mph in less than eight seconds. Even with the extra power, fuel economy was unchanged.
Interesting. I like the fact that Lexus’ model has a rich and inviting interior, doesn’t it?
Lexus’ reliability does not surprise me and between this model and a C-clas of the 1994-00 period, the former gets my vote, folks.
