21997 Plymouth Prowler Test Drive
It really happened. By spring of 1997, the first of some 3000 factory-fresh Prowlers were driven out of Plymouth showrooms and directly to nearby burger joints. If you hadn’t already had a line on one, you were to wait until 1998 for an opportunity. Some say it was worth it to get an early taste of this modern spin on the classic street rod. Aluminum frame, inboard suspension with aluminum arms, and even aluminum rear brake discs, were some of the many details. Motivated by Chrysler’s 3.5 liter 214hp V-6 borrowed from the LH sedans the prowler sent its power to a four speed automatic transaxle and on to immense 20-inch rear wheels and tires.
They should have used the 5.2 Magnum V8 or the 5.9 Magnum V8…to give it a good V8 rumble and V8 power
Jeff the. 3.5 V6 was more powerful and lighter than the magnum. Magnum had more tq but don’t think it would of made it better.
I owned one for 12 years and put a 6.1 Hemi in it now that’s power

Now that’s the right motor but didn’t come out to 2003 after car was gone.
