1998 Isuzu Amigo Test Drive

Our friend returned. Those who remember the Amigo as one of the harshest riding vehicles on the American market, with little acceleration and almost no interior room, never understood why Isuzu call it “friend”. This time it was quite a bit more, well friendly. The new model retained some of the old model’s styling, with the removable rear roof section. It used to ride on the discontinued pickup truck platform that was also used for the first Rodeo, but when the Amigo returned for 1998, it was on the revised Rodeo platform. This time it had a longer wheelbase and coil springs to make it more comfortable, eliminating that beat you to death suspension that previously killed the Amigo.
