1998 Lexus LX 470 Test Drive
There was much more to the Lexus LX 470 than just a new V-8 engine under the hood in place of the familiar inline six. Introduced as a slightly belated 1998 model, the LX 470 replaced the upright sheet-metal of its prdecessor with more rakish bodywork and added a lavish new interior that would have looked at home in the LS400 luxury sedan. Smaller on the outside than the Linclon Navigator, the LX 470’s eight-passenger interior was actually more comfortable than the Lincoln’s. Ecceptionally quiet and compliant on the highway, the LX 470 was powered by a new 4.7-liter/230-horsepower DOHC V-8 that fed power to all four wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
