01999 Audi A6 2.7T and 4.2 Test Drive
Audi’s unique style was nowhere more evident than in the Audi A6. From its sophisticated external contours, to the decidedly different style of the interior, the A6 sedan (and new Avant wagon) was a standout. And it also happened to drive pretty great, too. Power flowed from a 2.8-liter/200-horsepower DOHC V-6 that was coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission and either front- or Quattro all-wheel drive. It made for an enjoyable drivetrain, though at 8.7-seconds 0-60 mph in Quattro form, it was not quick in the least. For 1999 a manual transmission Quattro and sport suspension/tire option became available.
