01999 Land Rover Discovery Series II Test Drive
In the first major rework since its 1989 introduction in Europe (1994 in America), Land Rovers Discovery sport utility rolled into 1999 with new style, more room, and improved performance. New technology swelled: optional active cornering enhancement kept the body flat during cornering, hill descent control automatically applied the anti-lock brakes during steep off road descent. Though peek power remained at 182 horses, the 4 liter overhead valve v8 benefited from a new Bosch management system that improved response and acceleration. Well appointed even in base form, the Discovery could be optioned with forward facing rear jump seats, rear air conditioning and more.
