01999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.5L Test Drive
For 1999, the Intrigue was the older sibling of the then all new Alero.Their respective lines were strikingly similar, recalling the power rounded aurora, the flagship model of the Oldsmobile lineup. In its second year, the Intrigue had the long awaited new DOHC V6. The engine was developed by the same team that came up with the Northstar and Aurora V8, under the watchful eye of engineer Max Freeman. It was a full 50lbs lighter than the venerable 3.8L, which it eventually replaced across the board by the end of the 1999 model year. The Shortstar as it was affectionately known was first be offered ion the GLS versions and later found on every model.
