02000 BMW 323Ci Test Drive
With BMW electing to drop 4 cylinder engines for all its 3 Series cars in the United States, the 318 i went on hiatus for 2000. All 3s were powered by DOHC inline 6’s. However a new coupe in 323CI and 328CI guises joined the new in 1999 323 & 328i sedans, which carried over virtually unchanged. Finally a 323 i Sport Wagon also arrived for those who needed a bit more practicality with their performance. The E36 based convertible was replaced by one based on the new platform in early 2000. And while there was no M3’s for the new model year, a new M3 coupe appeared for 2001.
