02000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Sedan Test Drive
It’s a sedan! It’s a rally car! It’s a sport/ute!. No, it’s an Impreza! Although it may look like your average coupe, sedan, or wagon, the six-model impreza family packed some surprises. A full-time all-wheel-drive system gave all Impreza variations extra grip on slick roads. The rally-inspired 2.5 RS was available as a sedan as well as a coupe in 2000, and carried a 2.5-liter/165 horsepower SOHC opposed-four engine that came matched with a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. Standard on the Impreza and Outback Sport was a 2.2-liter/142 horsepower variant. For better ground clearance off-road, the Outback Sport rode about an inch higher than other Impreza’s.
