Toyota’s MR Spyder was to pick up where the MR2 left off. With a slightly longer wheelbase than its spiritual predecessor, a light 2300 pound curb weight, and nearly a foot less overall length, this nifty little two seater promised to deliver a megadose of fun. Mechanical highlights included a 1.8 liter/140 hp DOHCinline four nestled amidships, a choice of conventional five speed manual transmission or trick clutchless/sequential variation, and coil strut suspension.
