After an absence of one year, the M3 was back. And better than ever. Sharing the so-called E46 platform with the new 3-series coupe, sedan, convertible and wagon, the sportiest Bimmer boasted the same contemporary styling as its siblings, and was set off by a distinctive M-style front spoiler, rear diffuser and 18-in wheels. Beneath the skin, the new 3-series suspension delivered superb handling without compromising ride. But the best news was that horsepower was up, form 240 bhp to an estimated 333 thanks to the new 3.2 liter 24 valve, DOHCinline 6 equipped with BMW’s infinitely adjustable double VANOS variable valve timing system.
