Acura’s all new RSX represented a major step beyond the Integra it replaced. Two variations of this striking front drive hatch coupe were available. Both carried the new i-VTECDOHC four-cylinder engine. Rated at 160 hp in base form, this torquey but super clean twin cammer could be tied to either a five speed manual or five-speed sequential SportShift automatic. Pony count in the Type S rose to 200 with cog changes handled by a close ratio six speed manual. The top-line variant also got a more taut suspension. All RSX’s had ABS, automatic climate control, front and side airbags, keyless remote, moon roof, and a premium sound system with CD.
