The most significant new Acura for 2002 was the RSX coupe.. Stepping in for the much-loved Integrea, the RSX elevated Acura’s sport coupe game with even better handling, beefier brakes, a nicer interior, and two new four-cylinder engines that used a more complicated version of the VTEC variable valve timing system called i-VTEC. The standard RSX had a 160-hp, 2.0-liter i-VTEC four mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed Sequential SportShift manu-matic. The Type S got a 200-hp i-VTEC engine, which worked exclusively with a new, short-throw six-speed manual.
