Drop top 3-series models were never paragons of structural rigidity, and the E46 M3 still couldn’t match a Corvette convertible in twist resistance. Although stiffer than its predecessor, which was quite an achievement given this models much firmer suspension, the M3 convertible quivered and shook in pothole infested roads. The structural quibble aside, if you wanted a convertible that was fast and had a real back seat, this M3 was the best there was. Just don’t let the four seats fool you. It was a sports car, and it encourages you to drive it like one.
