Entering it’s 50th production year, the Corvette had become an icon of American performance. For 2002, the lineup included the hatchback coupe, convertible, and Z06 fixed roof hardtop. The Z06 LS6 V8 reached a milestone of its own this year thanks to an 20-hp boost, now equal to the 405hp quad-cam LT5 of the fabled ZR-1. All Corvettes received Active Handling, which included dynamic rear brake proportioning, rear brake stability control, an integral traction control that could be turned off for competition events.
