The all-new TrailBlazer was roomier, more powerful, and quieter than its predecessor. The foundation was a fully hydro-formed fame that gave luxury car solidity to a chassis that also introduced rack and pinion steering, powerful four wheel anti lock disc brakes, and a new five link coil spring rear suspension. Shining brightly was a new all aluminum DOHC inline six, variable exhaust cam timing, throttle by wire, direct ignition, and 270 smooth as silk horses. Dual frontal and side-airbags were standard. An extended-wheelbase Trailblazer with three row seating was introduced later in 2002.
