The all-new 2002 Trailblazer was roomier, more powerful, and quieter than its predecessor. The foundation was a fully hydroformed frame that \gave luxury-car solidity to a chassis that also introduced rack-and-pinion steering, powerful four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and a new five-link coil-spring rear suspension. Shining brightly was a new all-aluminum DOHC inline-six, variable exhaust cam timing, throttle by wire, direct ignition, and 270 smooth as silk horses. Dual frontal and side impact airbags were standard. Later in the year, the extended wheelbase Trailblazer with three row seating was introduced.
