Mazda’s little-known flagship for 2002 was the Millenia, an elegant five-passenger sedan with sporting ability, the option of a supercharged V-6 engine, and a John Doe image. In 2001 the Millenia received significant updates to its bodywork and interior. Side impact airbags were optional. The ride was plush, yet the Millenia was more than a luxo-cruiser, possessing the Mazda trait of fine sporting handling. With its base V-6, it was everything a Mazda familia sedan should be. With the 210-hp supercharged V-6 and fully optioned interior, it was an unconventional yet affordable choice for the near-luxury buyer.
