2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Liberty Renegade Test Drive
Jeep revived a traditional name, Renegade, for a model specially equipped with an integrated activity light bar, roof basket, “bolt-on” wheel flares, removable side steps, two tone front fascia, and, of course, special wheels to create “the ultimate adventure package.”
In Jeep versus the Rocks, the rocks lose to the new Wrangler Rubicon. Named for the famous trail, the Rubicon came with locking differentials and Dana model 44 axles front and rear and a 4:1 low range transfer case, plus 31-in. tall tires and diamond plate sill guards to protect rocker panels from damage. The Rubicon was rock crunching ready from the git-go.
