Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle, the product savvy chieftain of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group (Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Volvo), was heavily involved in the early development of the 2003 Range Rover. When he left BMW, which owned the Rover Group at the time,he lost parental rights to his baby. When Ford bought Land Rover from BMW, Reitzle got to finish what he started. The result was PAG’s flagship sport utility. Although the 2003 Range Rover somewhat resembled the previous one, it was an entirely new vehicle from the tires up. larger, in an elegantly imposing way, it retained two row only seating.
