All new for 2003, the ninth generation Corolla was larger and more sophisticated than any of its predecessors. Looking much like a scaled down Camry, this compact front driver was available in CE, LE and sporty S trims, all powered by a 1.8L 130 hp twin cam four pair-able with either a 5M, or a 4A transmission. Even the CE came with an AM/FM/CD stereo, tilt steering and 15-in wheel/tire package. The LE added air conditioning, power windows, locks, mirrors, aux woodgrain trim and optional leather while the S boasted a full body kit, rear spoiler, fog-lamps, and unique gauges.
