The redesigned 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix foreshadowed the streamlined look of future Pontiacs. Offered only as a sedan, the new GT1 and GT2 sported a 3.8L 200 horsepower Series III V6 and 4 speed automatic gearbox. Boosting the fun factor of the top line GTP was a 260 horsepower Supercharged V6. With the optional Comp G package, the GTP gained a TAPshift paddle activated ManuMatic transmission, Stabilitrak, stiffer suspension, and 10 spoke 17 inch alloy wheels. Inside was a head-up display with a Saab like nighttime stealth mode and a fold flat front seat that enabled 9 foot long long objects to be carried inside the car.
