After over a two decade hiatus, Pontiac finally returned with a cloth top version of the GM F-body, shared with Chevrolet’s Camaro. Working with the company ASC (American Sunroof Company), the same company the assisted Pontiac in the turbo’ing of its 1990 Grand Prix Turbo, Coupe and Sedan, they were able to virtually minimize body flex, the all too common result in chopping the top off a coupe. Adding only 100 pounds of weight, the already rather underpowered five liter engine , did not a quarter mile machine this make. But popping the hood of the Firebird results in the viewing of what is one of the most pretty engine topper around, then or now, General Motors Tuned port Injected V8
