1997 Mercury Mountaineer Test Drive

The Mountaineer was a brand new in 1997, V8 powered Ford Explorer with a slightly different grille, droves of luxurious appointments, and optional full time AWD. Lincoln-Mercury dealers wanted a piece of the growing SUV pie, and the Mountaineer gave them just that.
