11999 Honda Odyssey Test Drive
You remember the original Honda Odyssey minivan, right? Its familiar name now applied to a brand new maxi sized minivan that struck panic in the hearts of competitive manufacturers. The Canadian built Odyssey was slightly longer than the Dodge Grand Caravan and came standard with the most powerful engine in the class, a thoroughly modern 3.5 liter VTEC V6 that made more people power than the V8 that came in the 1984 Chevrolet Corvette. As for features the new Odyssey hit all the hot buttons, with standard dual sliding side doors, power operated in the up-level model, anti-lock brakes, head rests, and 3-point harnesses all around, and front and rear air conditioning.
How does a V6 get a slower 0-60 time than the 2.2 in the 1995? It’s heavier, sure, but no THAT much heavier.
