02000 BMW Z3 Test Drive
After giving power thirsty speed seekers a new and improved engine in 1999, BMW made only minor modifications to its Z3 series for 2000. Stocked with a base 2.5 liter/170 hp inline-six, the cute lil’ roadster pleased the eyes and the seat of the pants in equal measure. All Z3s received new airbags, as well as some external freshening – including new wheels and slight styling tweaks. The Z3 was also available as a 2.8 liter/193 hp roadster or coupe, which hit 60MPH in 6.3 seconds with the manual transmission. If you really craved thrills, opt for the 3.2 liter/240hp, smooth handling M roadster or coupe and you’d jump to 60 MPH in 5.1 seconds.
