Pony cars, coined in the 60’s with the introduction of the original Ford Mustang and its equestrian namesake, describing an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image. Retaliated by GM’s Chevrolet Camaro in 1967, and later with Pontiac’s 1969 Firebird. The group had other spokesman from other manufacturers like Dodge, Plymouth and AMC, but the Ford vs GM battle survived much longer than the others one, maybe two iterations. Regardless of engine size, output, or how their respective performance figures are translated from rubber to pavement, lloyalty, and or Fanboyism’, is what the typical buyer of these equine will utilize as their actual, primary explanation for their acquisition!
