1985 Chevrolet Spectrum Manufacturer Promo
Chevy’s other captive import, the Isuzu built Spectrum, was available in dealerships alongside the Nova. this new front driver was powered by a 1471cc 4-cylinder engine and was available as both a 3-door hatch or 4-door sedan. Preliminary EPA ratings for this engine with 5speed manual were estimated to be 45/60. A diesel rumored to achieve 55/72 was also planned.

Not even Giugiaro’s website shows the car’s design as they produced it to Isuzu, but it does confirm that Isuzu offered the result to GM Design who had a few notes. The result is decent-looking in that rational, ’80s way even with Irv Rybicki’s touch all over it (especially noticeable on the sedan). Too bad about the “missing” 5 door hatchback, though.
