01979: Chevrolet gets Cited
In early 1979 Chevrolet officially named their new X-car the Citation. New for GM on the X-body was the front ends and powertrains mounted on cradle which served as a base to secure the powertrain and front suspension. It was a bolt on unit mounted in such a way to isolate the rest of the vehicle from vibration. Anticipated weight of the Citation was 2600-2700 lbs. Overall it was about the length of a Vega, but nearly equal to the larger GM A-body in interior size.
